favorite quotes from a novel

Author
Book
Quote
Chris’ Relation
Jack London
“White Fang”
“There was a hint of laughter, but of a laughter more terrible than any sadness”. (Pg 9, ch. 2)
I think Chris can relate to this because of what we saw in a video that Chris’ childhood was very hard for him, and it was mostly all a lie considering what his father did to him and his sister. So I think Chris didn’t have many good laughing and happy moments.
Leo Tolstoy
“Family Happiness”
“I wanted excitement and danger and the chance to sacrifice myself for my love.” (pg 15, Ch. 3)
This relates to Chris so perfectly considering he is telling us throughout the book how much he loved the outdoors and loved being in nature and he can really find himself when he is out there.
Henry David Thoreau
“Life in the Woods”
“Though the results were bodily weakness, yet perhaps no one can say that the consequences were to be regretted”
Chris relates to this because he did die for his passion and he tried to stay out there and survive with just common sense and the work of his hands. I think if Chris could give his opinion now, I don’t think he would regret any of his decision while he was out there.

One of my most favorite quotes is “You were given this life because you are strong enough to live it” (by unknown) I personally love this quote because of how much things everyone goes through and everyone goes through rough patches in their life and everyone has their own kind of “strong” aspect they like to think of themselves as. I am very strong emotionally because I don’t let my emotions get the best of me. I think Chris was given his tough life because of his childhood past of a cheating and abusive father, and just watching his family fall apart while his dad lives the double life no one knew about.
